Who bears legal responsibility for artificial intelligence decisions?

We present a new publication by our legal advisor, Dr. Katarzyna Turcza, entitled: “Legal Issues of Artificial Intelligence.”

The book contains an in-depth analysis of one of the most important challenges of the modern world – determining the legal status of artificial intelligence (AI). Ms. Turcza addresses a topic that is crucial for lawyers, entrepreneurs, and researchers of new technologies alike: how should the law treat the growing presence of intelligent systems in economic transactions and social life?

The publication is an in-depth study of issues related to the legal personality of AI, responsibility for its actions, authorship of works produced by it, and potential rights and obligations arising from its use. Katarzyna Turcza discusses in detail, among other things:

➤ various definitions of artificial intelligence in legal literature and in EU and national legislation,
➤ legal personality and legal capacity in the context of AI,
➤ the status of AI as an object of law – a commodity, service, product, or work,
➤ practical aspects of legal transactions, including Responsible AI Licenses,
➤ issues of AI ethics and morality, analyzed, among other things, through the famous “trolley dilemma,”
➤ the need to create trustworthy artificial intelligence that remains a tool in human hands.
